Thursday, August 30, 2018As Montgomery, Alabama hosted the largest technology conference in the US Air Force this week, some of the city’s best tech talent joined the brightest minds in the Air Force to compete in the 2018 InnovateAFITC Cyber Challenge. The co-sponsored Air Force event was held in conjunction with the 2018 Air Force Information Technology & Cyberpower Conference (AFITC) and challenged participants to create innovative solutions to significant cyber obstacles and threats as part of Montgomery’s ongoing effort to grow and leverage the city’s technology-related assets. Montgomery’s schools are in a crisis and imminently risk the loss of accreditation. Tuesday, May 29, 2018Local elected officials and business leaders joined with Alabama Governor Kay Ivey today to celebrate the announcement by Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama LLC President and CEO Dong Ryeol Choi that Hyundai is investing $388 million to construct a plant dedicated to manufacturing engine heads and to enhance existing operations and support production of new models of Sonata and Elantra sedans. Tuesday, April 17, 2018Hyundai Power Transformers USA, Inc. (HPT) has announced a $33 million expansion of its Montgomery facility resulting in the creation of 86 new jobs. The expansion will enable the company to establish a "Smart Factory" and increase production of its power transformers by more than 60 percent. The expansion will include a newly-constructed training facility that will contribute to fostering an advanced labor force, taking the company one step closer to achieving its plan of generating $200 million in revenue by 2021. Tuesday, April 3, 2018On April 13, 2018 over 100 Montgomery middle school students will have a chance to get one on one interaction with local leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math as well as Information Technology careers at Camp IT. This hands-on camp is organized by TechMGM, the partnership behind Montgomery’s technology strategy, with a goal of developing a strong workforce ready to create and work for innovative companies in Montgomery and the Montgomery AFCEA Chapter.
