Jina MiniardTuesday, March 17, 2020Based on guidance from Governor Kay Ivey and public health professionals regarding COVID-19, the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce is moving to remote work for the immediate future. All Chamber facilities and in-office operations are closed effective March 16th and remain closed through May 26th. At that time we will evaluate the ability to reopen our facilities and return to full on-site staffing. The Air Force Program Executive Office for Business Enterprise Systems (PEO-BES) located at Maxwell-Gunter AFB awarded a major Air Force wide Small Business Enterprise Applications Solutions (SBEAS) Contract to 20 small businesses. The contract scope is for up to $13.4 billion of work to be performed over a fifteen-year period if all contract option years are used. Read more(0) CommentsFriday, December 13, 2019Today the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce held its tenth annual Success Starts Here Tour, highlighting the new and expanding Montgomery industries who have invested in record breaking numbers this year. The $1,013,568,764 in industrial capital investments marks the second largest number ever for Montgomery County, only surpassed by the 2002 original Hyundai announcement. In addition, these companies announced the creation of 1,214 new jobs, and have helped secure 7,784 existing local jobs. A total of 31 companies have new and expanding investment this year. Read more(0) CommentsWednesday, November 13, 2019During a ceremony at the Alabama Capitol this afternoon, officials with Hyundai Motor Manufacturing of Alabama (HMMA) said workers will assemble the Santa Cruz compact utility vehicle at the Montgomery facility, beginning in 2021. Hyundai said the $410 million investment will create additional 230,000 square feet of space in the stamping, welding and parts processing areas of the manufacturing complex. While direct employment at HMMA will increase by 200 jobs, Hyundai projects that its local suppliers and logistics companies will employ an additional 1,000 people in Montgomery and the River Region. The new expansion project punctuates a period of fertile growth for HMMA. On Nov. 1, the facility began mass production of the redesigned, eighth-generation Sonata sedan. Hyundai intends to begin filling the new positions being created by the latest expansion project during the second half of 2020.
