Thursday, April 8, 2021This Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers joined Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce leadership and the local business community at the Chamber’s first in-person Washington Brief (formerly Eggs & Issues) event of the year. Rogers, who serves as Ranking Member of the Armed Services Committee, asserted his firm commitment to continued increases in funding to rebuild and modernize the military, voiced his support for infrastructure funding as well as his concerns about non-infrastructure related spending in President’s proposed plan, and what to expect during the remainder of the federal legislative year. Rogers also took questions from the crowd about Montgomery’s opportunity related to the future growth of space initiatives and the repatriation of manufacturing from foreign countries as an issue of national security and economic development. Read more(0) CommentsThursday, February 18, 2021The Montgomery TechLab (MGM TechLab) launched its inaugural tech accelerator program this week and announced the ten companies from around the country that will participate in the 12-week virtual program. Companies in the program will develop digital services solutions with applications in defense, healthcare, and energy industries. During the program, companies will receive funding for meeting various milestones and will develop relationships with business leaders at regional institutions, including partners at Maxwell Air Force Base and Gunter Annex and Alabama Power Co. Read more(0) CommentsFriday, November 20, 2020The Air Force announced today that it has chosen Maxwell Air Force Base’s 908th Airlift Wing as the preferred location to host the MH-139A Grey Wolf Formal Training Unit. The MH-139 Grey Wolf is the replacement platform for the Air Force’s UH-1N Huey helicopter which supports the Air Force’s Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) missions. The aircraft will be one of the Air Force's newest aerial weapons systems and has a long future as a strategic Air Force asset. The opportunity to acquire this training mission at Maxwell Air Force Base is paramount as the Air Force divests from existing C-130 missions, which would affect the 908th Airlift Wing at Maxwell Air Force Base as soon as 2023. Alabama’s only Air Force Reserve Unit will have a Helicopter flying training mission and partnerships with Global Strike Command and Air Education and Training Command. Read more(0) Comments
