Troy University has earned the 2023-2024 Military Friendly® School designation from G.I. Jobs magazine, along with the organization’s highest gold ranking.
More than 1,800 colleges and universities participated in the survey, with 665 earning special awards for going above the standard. Institutions earning the designation were evaluated using both public data sources and their responses to a proprietary survey.
“TROY has long been known for its dedication and support of America’s military men, women and their families,” said Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. “When others recognize our dedication, it serves as validation that we are going above and beyond to provide a quality education at an affordable price to our service members.”
Final ratings for each institution were determined by combining the survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence, and loan default rates for all students, and, specifically, for student veterans.
TROY supports its active duty, Reserve, National Guard, and veterans through a number of ways, including the TROY for Troops Centers on campuses in Troy, Montgomery, Dothan, Phenix City, Clarksville, TN and Pensacola, FL locations and a virtual Center at TROY Online. In addition to student lounges and workspaces, the Centers host the SALUTE Honor Society, the Student Veteran Association, a Veterans’ Alumni Association, a Veteran Success on Campus counselor and visiting Department of Veterans Affairs counseling service providers.
TROY also offers its Military and Family Scholarship that caps the cost of tuition at $250 per credit hour for spouses and dependents of members of the military currently serving on active duty, in the National Guard or in the Reserves at undergraduate and graduate levels. Active Duty, Reserves and National Guard service members themselves pay no out-of-pocket tuition costs beyond what military tuition assistance pays.
Since 1950, the University has served and supported the Armed Forces and those who are or have served in uniform, their spouses, and their dependents. TROY counts some 60 flag officers among its alumni ranks, has a presence on or near military installations worldwide and participates in online learning programs with all service branches.
