Montgomery, Ala.—Huntingdon College ended the midpoint in the academic year with a record-setting number of new student deposits for Fall 2023. As of Friday, December 16, new student deposits are up 45 percent over last year, and 140 percent over the prior ten-year average. Additionally, the total number of applications for admission is up 63 percent over the prior ten-year average.

“We’ve had a tremendous Fall semester in the Office of Admission,” stated Vice President for Admission Stephanie Hicks. “Our staff and student recruiters love working with prospective students and their families to showcase Huntingdon College to them, and we are very excited about the record-number of students who have already made the decision to join our college family in the Fall of 2023.”

“As part of Huntingdon’s strategic plan, we have been intentional in growing experiential enrollment initiatives to attract and retain students,” stated Huntingdon College President Cam West. “We are seeing strong numbers in marching band recruitment and in our new Esports program and women’s wrestling team. Our Presidential Fellows program has been successful in recruiting high-achieving students to participate in academic teams. Our Kingswood Initiative programs are also attracting great interest from students who want a robust campus activities experience, leadership in campus ministries, participation in our social media and marketing team, or engagement in our undergraduate athletics coaching team.”

“I love giving tours of our beautiful campus to prospective students and telling them about all the ways a student can be involved in the life of Huntingdon and our four-day class schedule,” noted Jacob Gray ’23, a student recruiter who also serves as President of the Student Government Association as well as member of the Huntingdon men’s lacrosse team. “We have an awesome student body, great faculty and staff members who care about our students, and a real sense of community and school spirit at Huntingdon. It’s a great time to be a Huntingdon Hawk!”

“I appreciate all the good work and energy our admission staff, coaches, cohort leaders, faculty members and student recruiters have put into our recruitment efforts this Fall,” stated West.

Huntingdon College, founded in 1854, continues a legacy of faith, wisdom and service through a liberal arts academic tradition grounded in the Judeo-Christian heritage of the United Methodist Church.
