Governor Kay Ivey joined executives of Hyundai Mobis, one of the world’s largest auto suppliers, to announce the company’s plans to invest $205 million to open an EV battery module plant in Montgomery that will eventually employ at least 400 people.

Monday, November 9, 2020Hyundai Adds Fifth Vehicle to Montgomery Production Plant
Today, in Los Angeles, Hyundai Motor America introduced the all-new 2022 Tucson to the U.S. automotive media. During the press event, José Muñoz, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor North America, announced Hyundai is expanding the number of models it builds in the U.S. with the addition of 2022 Tucson production at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) plant in Montgomery starting in 2021.

On Friday, June 5, the Recover Together Small Business Relief Fund awarded nearly $70,000 to 22 local small businesses in its first round of funding. The purpose of the Small Business Relief Fund is to provide working capital to local small businesses as they work to continue or resume operations following COVID-19-related impacts. Local leaders announced the opening of applications for the Recover Together Small Business Relief Fund which has received over 100 applications at the time of this release. Wednesday, April 29, 2020Montgomery Leaders Launch One-stop Hub for Small Business Support
Today elected and business leaders launched the Recover Together Small Business HUB (Helping Business Unite), a free, one-stop clearinghouse to connect small and minority businesses to the resources and information they need most as they emerge from the COVID-19 crisis. This public-private collaboration is an early outcome of Mayor L. Steven Reed’s Economic Impact Task Force.

Tuesday, March 17, 2020Montgomery Chamber Operations Update
Based on guidance from Governor Kay Ivey and public health professionals regarding COVID-19, the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce is moving to remote work for the immediate future. All Chamber facilities and in-office operations are closed effective March 16th and remain closed through May 26th. At that time we will evaluate the ability to reopen our facilities and return to full on-site staffing.
