Military Profile: Col. Chris Germann

As Maintenance Group Commander for the Alabama Air National Guard’s 187th Fighter Wing, Colonel Chris Germann ensures his team maintains the wing’s F-16 fleet to the high “Red Tail Standard.” He and his unit are playing their pivotal role well, being routinely recognized as one of the best F-16 maintenance units in the Air Force.

Military Profile: Chief Master Sergeant Tracy D. Cornett

While serving in law enforcement, and after serving on active duty in the Air Force for four years, the events of 9/11 made Chief Master Sergeant Tracy D. Cornett realize he still had more he wanted to give. So, he joined the Air Force Reserve in 2003, and today, he’s still serving, now as the 908th Airlift Wing’s Command Chief.

MGM: Maxwell-Gunter-Montgomery

It’s fitting that MGM stands for Montgomery but is also an acronym for Maxwell-Gunter Montgomery. Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base is truly our base, and it’s not just key to our nation’s security; it is an essential element of our area’s culture and prosperity as well.

Boom: F-35 Coming to Montgomery

Brig. Gen. Randy Efferson, Chief of Staff Air National Guard, enthusiastically explained how winning the F-35 program will help continue the important legacy of the Red Tails. “The 187th Fighter Wing is home to the 100th Fighter Squadron, which is one of the original Tuskegee units dedicated to flying African Americans in combat fighter aircraft,” he said. “This is a very important and immeasurable legacy for the State of Alabama. Receiving the F-35 ensures this legacy for the next half-century.”
