January 22 — The Montgomery Biscuits are officially stepping into an exciting new chapter as part of OnDeck Partners, a newly launched sports ownership group committed to strengthening the connection between Minor League Baseball teams and the communities they serve.
Announced on December 11, 2025, the acquisition places the Biscuits, Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, alongside the Visalia Rawhide under the OnDeck Partners banner. The move marks OnDeck’s first entry into Minor League Baseball and signals a long-term vision centered on affordable entertainment, enhanced fan experiences, and meaningful community engagement.
A Community-Driven Vision for the Biscuits
For more than two decades, the Montgomery Biscuits have been one of Minor League Baseball's most popular organizations, noted for their innovative promotions, family-friendly atmosphere, and strong local ties across the River Region. OnDeck Partners has made it clear that these traditions will not only be preserved, but further elevated.
“As OnDeck Partners begins its journey, we see incredible opportunities to create unforgettable fan experiences and enhance in-stadium offerings,” stated Mike Carney, OnDeck Partners’ CEO. “Our goal is to ensure our ballparks remain places where communities gather, celebrate, and create lasting memories together.”
That vision came to life on January 21, when the community gathered at Riverwalk Stadium to celebrate the Biscuits’ new ownership with an official ribbon cutting ceremony. Families, fans, and local leaders filled the ballpark for an evening that showcased exactly what this new era represents. Local vendors participated, families enjoyed activities and food, and the atmosphere reflected the Biscuits’ long-standing role as a place where Montgomery comes together. The celebration offered an early glimpse into how OnDeck Partners and the Biscuits plan to continue fostering community connection, on and off the field.
Experienced Leadership, Long-Term Commitment
OnDeck Partners is backed by the Avenue Sports Fund, led by Marc Lasry, Chairman and CEO of Avenue Capital Group. The OnDeck executive team, CEO Mike Carney, COO Jeff Wilen, and CFO Chirag Mithani, brings decades of experience across sports, business, and entertainment, providing a strong operational foundation for the organization.
Lasry emphasized that the investment extends beyond wins and losses. “OnDeck is building something special and important, not only supporting the success of the teams in which it invests, but also contributing to the dynamism of the communities in which they are located,” he said.
What This Means for Montgomery
For Biscuits fans, new ownership brings opportunity. OnDeck Partners plans to enhance game-day entertainment, expand in-stadium offerings, and deepen community outreach, all while keeping baseball affordable, accessible, and family-friendly. The goal is not to change what fans love, but to build on it in thoughtful, forward-looking ways.
The Biscuits’ front office and ownership remain firmly committed to Montgomery and to the team’s cultural and social impact. Riverwalk Stadium will continue to serve as a gathering place for families, friends, and baseball fans of all ages to celebrate the game and the community.
That excitement will carry straight into the season, as the Montgomery Biscuits kick off their opening home game on Tuesday, April 7 at 6:00 PM against the Columbus Clingstones, officially welcoming fans back to Riverwalk Stadium for another year of baseball, memories, and community tradition. Tickets for Opening Night and the full 2026 season are on sale now, and fans are encouraged to secure their seats early to be part of this exciting new chapter.
Looking Ahead
With OnDeck Partners at the helm, the Montgomery Biscuits are positioned for continued success both on and off the field. Rooted in tradition and driven by innovation, this new chapter strengthens the bond between the team and the city it proudly represents.
For Montgomery, this is more than a change in ownership, it’s an investment in shared experiences, community moments, and the future of local baseball.
