SS&L Architects Hires Six Full-Time Designers, Opens Pensacola Branch
July 22, 2025MONTGOMERY, AL — SS&L Architects is proud to announce the hiring of six new full-time designers. This is the latest development in the firm’s recent tremendous organic growth. SS&L will expand its footprint in the Sunshine State with a new branch office in Pensacola, Florida.
The firm excitedly welcomes the following new full-time employees to the SS&L team:
LAUREN ARINGTON, AIA, NCARB
PENSACOLA, FL

Lauren brings over 15 years of experience in architecture, including a distinguished tenure with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as Engineering Technical Lead. In that role, she oversaw complex design and design-build projects for the Army and Air Force across installations like Hurlburt Field, MacDill AFB, and ERDC Vicksburg. Her leadership on facilities such as Special Operations command centers, aircraft hangars, and research labs has given her deep insight into military standards, coordination protocols, and the delivery of high-performance government facilities. Lauren’s expertise strengthens SS&L’s growing portfolio of military work and reinforces our commitment to delivering secure, mission-ready environments for the armed forces.

With over three decades of architectural experience across Alabama and the Southeast, Michael brings a seasoned eye for design and project management. His portfolio spans higher education, healthcare, senior living, and municipal work—making him an ideal fit for projects across the East Alabama region. Michael has a strong track record of delivering thoughtful, budget-conscious solutions that meet client goals. His presence enhances SS&L’s ability to serve institutions and communities with excellence and integrity. Michael’s interests include spending time with family and friends, hiking, and sports.
BRAD ROBINSON, ASSOC. AIA

Brad previously contributed to several SS&L projects as a student intern, including the Trenholm State Executive Park Renovation, Tallassee Community Center, and 17 Springs Phase II, where he demonstrated creativity, attention to detail, and a strong grasp of architectural fundamentals. His academic work culminated in a thought-provoking thesis on “Temporal Perception,” exploring how architecture can evolve with light and time to create dynamic spatial experiences. Brad is a recipient of the Fifth-Year Jurists’ Award and a Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society Bronze Medalist, affirming his design excellence and academic distinction. With a passion for drawing, golf, and travel, Brad brings curiosity and a thoughtful design perspective to our growing team. He will support a range of projects as he begins his professional career with SS&L.

SS&L Architects is proud to welcome Olivia Smith full-time to our Auburn office following multiple successful internships with our team. Olivia brings a thoughtful, human-centered approach to design—reflected in her undergraduate thesis, Emerging Place: Designing a Better World for Alzheimer’s Patients. Her work explores the power of architecture to foster dignity, emotional security, and connection in environments of care. Olivia’s belief that design should serve as a bridge between functionality and empathy aligns deeply with SS&L’s mission of creating spaces that uplift communities. Her passion, talent, and proven dedication will be a tremendous asset to our team and projects.

SS&L Architects is pleased to welcome Nate Taylor to our team following his prior internships with the firm. Nate brings a strong academic background and a passion for thoughtful design, having earned numerous honors including the Alabama Concrete Industries Association’s Foundation and Ronald Davis Memorial Scholarships, as well as the APLA Faculty Book Award. He has also demonstrated design excellence through recognition in the Alabama Forestry Association Student Design Competition. An active member of AIAS at Auburn University, Nate blends technical skill with a collaborative spirit. Outside of architecture, he enjoys biking, sci-fi movies, and cars. Nate’s return to SS&L marks the beginning of a promising professional journey, and we’re excited to have him contribute to our growing team.
LUKE TULLIS, ASSOC. AIA

Our team is excited to welcome Luke Tullis full-time to our Dothan office following his previous internship with the firm. Luke is passionate about revitalizing communities through thoughtful, mixed-use development, a focus explored in his senior thesis, The Jackson Hive, which proposes a vibrant, street-level urban hub to reinvigorate downtown Jackson, Mississippi. His design emphasizes accessibility, sustainability, and community engagement, reflecting a strong alignment with SS&L’s values. Luke brings with him a keen design sensibility, an eye for urban strategy, and a commitment to practical solutions. Outside of architecture, he enjoys kayaking, caring for exotic pets, and spending time with family. We’re proud to have Luke back as part of the SS&L team in the Wiregrass region.
