HYUNDAI MOTOR MANUFACTURING ALABAMA TEAM MEMBERS DONATE SUPPLIES AND UNIFORMS FOR SELMA CITY SCHOOLS
August 01, 2025MONTGOMERY, Ala., August 1, 2025 – Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) and its team members donated more than $7,500 worth of school supplies and uniform items for Selma City School System students. The uniforms and supplies will help students be dressed for success and ready to learn throughout the upcoming school year.
During the months of July and August, team members purchased more than $2,500 worth of uniform items and other school supplies. Team members were given a list of uniform color and size guidelines to help them purchase the items for students. The donations cover nearly every stage in a student’s career: from elementary school to middle school and high school. To add to the collection of uniforms, HMMA gave an additional corporate donation of $5,000 worth of uniform items, amounting to a total of $7,500 in uniforms and other supplies donated to Selma City Schools.
Additionally, HMMA also made a $5,000 corporate donation to Selma City Schools to sponsor Operation Help Our Scholars. This annual event provides free school supplies, uniforms, and haircuts to students as they prepare for the new school year.
The uniforms, supplies, and monetary donations were presented to representatives of Selma City Schools for distribution to local schools and students.
HMMA’s public relations manager, Scott Posey, said, “HMMA’s partnerships extend to public school systems like Selma throughout the River Region, from funding robotics to STEM curriculums to annual school supply drives like this one that support and celebrate a new year of learning for area students. When we invest in public education, we are investing in our future.”
HMMA's latest donation to Selma City Schools continues a 20-year legacy of support for local school systems and STEM education programs in Alabama. In addition to its annual school supply and uniform drives, HMMA has sponsored the Montgomery Public Schools’ annual Back to School Bash since 2023. Most notably, HMMA has invested more than $500,000 in local robotics education, including the Hyundai Initiative for Robotics Excellence (HIRE), an HMMA-created program which has established robotics teams at local schools in Montgomery, Selma, and Autauga County.
This was HMMA’s 20th back-to-school drive and third drive benefiting Selma City Schools.###
