MONTGOMERY, Ala., July 29, 2025 – For the third consecutive year, HMMA donated $25,000 to the Montgomery Public School system to sponsor MPS’s annual Back to School Bash. HMMA Vice President and CAO Robert Burns presented the donation to MPS Superintendent Dr. Zickeyous Byrd. HMMA has been the presenting sponsor of this event since its inception in 2023.

"We are incredibly grateful to Hyundai for their generous donation of $25,000 toward school supplies that will be provided to MPS students at our Back to School Bash. This contribution will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed from day one. Thank you for investing in education and believing in our future," said Dr. Zickeyous Byrd, Superintendent of Montgomery Public Schools.

HMMA's latest donation to Montgomery Public Schools continues a 20-year legacy of support for local school systems and STEM education programs in Alabama. In addition to sponsoring the annual Back to School Bash, HMMA has invested more than $500,000 in local robotics education. This includes the Hyundai Initiative for Robotics Excellence (HIRE), an HMMA-created program which has established robotics teams at local schools in Montgomery, Selma, and Autauga County. HMMA has conducted annual school supply and uniform drives each year since opening in 2004.

“HMMA’s partnership with Montgomery Public Schools began over 20 years ago. Since then, it has grown stronger every year. The Back to School Bash is a celebration and kick-off of another year of learning for our area students. Our investments in public education are helping prepare young people for their future careers, and we hope many will one day choose to join our HMMA family,” said Scott Posey, HMMA’s Manager of Public Relations.

The MPS Back to School Bash is will include free school supplies, food, activities, and entertainment for students and families at no cost. The event will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
