Montgomery Public Schools Announces 21st Century Community Learning Centers at Five Schools

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) is excited to announce that five schools will offer 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) programming, providing students with engaging, high-quality after-school learning opportunities designed to extend learning beyond the traditional school day.

The federally funded 21st CCLC program supports students through hands-on, evidence-based experiences that make learning meaningful and engaging. Programming includes project-based learning, family engagement activities, service-learning opportunities, academic enrichment, and activities that help students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership skills.

 The following schools will participate in the program during the 2026-2027 school year:

● Flowers Elementary School (Monday-Friday)
● Bellingrath Middle School (Monday-Thursday)
● Capitol Heights Middle School (Monday-Thursday)
● Goodwyn Middle School (Monday-Thursday)
● McKee Middle School (Monday-Thursday)

The program will operate throughout the school year while Montgomery Public Schools is in session, as well as for several weeks during the summer. Families interested in participating should contact their child's school for registration information, program schedules, and operating hours.

Public Review Opportunity

As part of the federal grant process, the public is invited to review the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant application. The application is available through the Alabama State Department of Education's eGrants Management System or by contacting the department. Individuals may also request a copy through Montgomery Public Schools' Federal Programs Department.
