Montgomery County Officials Kick-Off Summer Programs

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (05/30/2024)- The Montgomery County Commission and Montgomery County Sheriff’s office officially kicked off Summer in Montgomery County Thursday at Elton Dean, Sr. Park.

Summer in Montgomery County is a collection of innovative and educational summer programs hosted by Montgomery County. Throughout the summer, the County will offer a wide array of different offerings including youth camps, and fishing events.

The Montgomery Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting a Summer Program for Montgomery youth ages 6-14. This free program runs from June 3-July 26 and features free lunch meals, educational programs taught by certified teachers, culinary classes, nutrition programs, outdoor activities, and field trips. The County will offer this program at four locations.
The department will also be hosting their National Fishing Day event on June 8 from 6:30AM-Noon at Elton Dean, Sr. Park. Free and open to the public, this event provides residents with an opportunity to fish and enjoy the beautiful park.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting their Youth Fishing Rodeo for youth 16 and younger on June 8 from 6AM-Noon at the Montgomery County Ponds. Additionally, the department will also be hosting their free Show and Tell Summer Camp July 29-August 2 for youth ages 9-11.

“Montgomery County is proud to once again offer a wide array of free summer programs,” said Montgomery County Commission Chairman Doug Singleton. “From fishing events to summer camps, Montgomery County has something for all ages!”
To provide access for all residents, events and programs will occur in several locations throughout Montgomery County. All the announced events and programs are offered at no cost to Montgomery County residents.
