March Events at Montgomery Whitewater
February 09, 2026MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Feb. 9th, 2026 Spring is right around the corner, and Montgomery Whitewater is kicking off the season with a full slate of March events! After a long winter, Montgomery Whitewater’s March programming brings special events, outdoor adventure, and fresh air to your spring plans.
From international-level competitions to fan favorite races, March sets the tone for an exciting year ahead at Montgomery Whitewater.
March Special Events & Competitions
ICF Canoe Slalom World Ranking Spring Race
March 13th -15th : Montgomery Whitewater is honored to host the 2026 Canoe Slalom World Rankings Spring Race, an International Canoe Federation level 3 rankings race. This race will offer a world-class experience for athletes, spectators, and officials as national and international athletes alike. National and International athletes will train and compete in Canoe Slalom and Kayak Cross in preparation for the July 2026 World Championships hosted in Oklahoma City. 80 to 100 athletes are projected to attend from the United States, Canada, and South America. Being selected to hose this race reinforces Montgomery Whitewater’s growing reputation on the international paddling stage. Learn More.
Hootenanny (formerly Lucky Ducky)
March 21st: Montgomery Whitewater is kicking off their whitewater season with one of its most playful, high-energy events. Now in its third year, the fan-favorite Lucky Ducky gets a glow-up - meet the Hootenanny: same wild spirit, but even more fun. The Hootenanny is a full day of racing, live music, and good-natured mayhem, featuring the Hootenanny 5K and Fun Run, Boater X, Ducky X, and the signature Pool Float Race. Whether you’re racing downstream in an inflatable or cheering from the sidelines, this is a “can’t-miss” spectator event built for laughs, spectacle, and a great time on the river. Down South Paddle Battle
March 27–29: Watch pro-athletes at the Down South Paddle Battle! The Paddle South Freestyle Tour adds a brand-new stop at Montgomery Whitewater with the Down South Paddle Battle. The Paddle Battle will be a fast-paced, high-energy event built for spectators. With clear sightlines and consistent features, fans can watch the pros throw flips and tricks in freestyle competition and race head-to-head in Boater X throughout the weekend. Learn More
Growing Outdoor Education at Montgomery Whitewater
Montgomery Whitewater is excited to announce the launch of its new Outdoor Education focused department, which will expand the park’s role as a place for both recreation and learning and exploration. This department will develop hands-on programs, camps, and field trip experiences focused on environmental education, outdoor skills, and connecting students to the natural world.
Nature School – Presented by MAX Credit Union
Spring Session begins March 7th: Nature School, Presented by MAX Credit Union, will serve as the first of these educational offerings, designed to immerse kids in the outdoors through guided exploration, hands-on activities, and place-based learning, setting the foundation for a growing lineup of educational programming to come.
Designed for children ages 2–10, Nature School will be offered in three sessions: Spring, Summer, and Autumn, with course information and registration first opening for the Spring session. Spring Break Camp
Session 1 begins March 16th: For families who are staying put for Spring Break, Montgomery Whitewater’s Spring Break Camp is a great way to keep kids active, engaged, and outdoors all week long. Montgomery Whitewater’s Spring Break Camp is a multi-day outdoor adventure experience for kids and teens ages 8–14, blending on-the-water and land-based adventure with hands-on outdoor education.
Designed to build confidence, teamwork, and curiosity, Spring Break Camp offers a fun, active week of adventure and learning in Montgomery Whitewater’s purpose-built outdoor environment. Learn More
