MONTGOMERY ZOO (Montgomery, AL): The Montgomery Zoo is proud to celebrate the 50th annual Zoo Weekend, a beloved community event that has brought generations of River Region members together for half of a century. On March 7 and 8 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, join the zoo for a fundraising festival filled with entertainment, activities, and unforgettable experiences.

Zoo Weekend has served as the zoo’s largest Spring fundraiser, supporting animal care, new exhibits, and exciting updates. This year’s proceeds will continue to advance the Zoo’s future Reptile exhibit. This year’s event is sponsored by Cumulus Media Montgomery (Y102, I-92 WLWI, Mix 103.3 and Fox 95.1), WCOV FOX-20, Coca-Cola Bottling Montgomery, Costco Wholesale, McDonald’s / Murphy Family Restaurants, the City of Montgomery, and Montgomery Area Zoological Society.

    Entertainment and Activities
During Zoo Weekend, the Montgomery Zoo has two different stages featuring a talented variety of performers. Entertainment on the Main Stage is provided by Cumulus Broadcasting Media and will feature local bands and solo artists including: DJ Jody Joe, 13 Seconds of Silence, Mabry Thorn, Chris Ewing, DJ Rick Hendrick, and Gabe the Entertainer & Jalen Wesley. The Jaguar Stage will feature local choirs, dance groups, karate dojos, and more. See the website for more details.

The newest addition to this year’s event is the inclusion of 4 conservation activity tents including Giraffe Face Painting, Coffee for Cougars, Rolling for Rhinos, and Hungry Hippo. These activities are raising separate funds to be donated to various conservation groups across the globe.

While visiting, guests can meet and greet with Montgomery Zoo’s Education ambassador animals, Montgomery Fire Department, and Montgomery Police Department.

    Local Food Vendors
Enjoy the smells of savory treats from some of the best eats in the River Region including Hero Donut, Little Donkey, Overlook Café, Pckles & Potatoes, Roger’s Eatery, Top Notch BBQ, and Woody’s Italian Ice.

    Membership Drive
Starting March 1 through March 31 the zoo will be offering a discount on Zoo Memberships making Zoo Weekend the perfect time to join or renew. Special rates start at just $50 and the memberships last for 12 months.
