City of Montgomery Announces Change to Holiday Sanitation Pickup Schedule
MONTGOMERY, AL — Beginning Thanksgiving week 2025, the City of Montgomery’s Sanitation Department will implement a new holiday collection schedule. This change affects all residents who receive city provided sanitation service.
Effective immediately, during weeks that include a City-observed holiday, Sanitation will only pick up green cans one day during the week. This is a change from previous years, when Sanitation either worked through the holiday or adjusted the schedule to maintain twice-weekly green can pickup.
Additionally, there will be no curbside trash pickup during holiday weeks.
This update is designed to improve efficiency and provide clarity for residents during holiday periods.

Thanksgiving Week
- Holiday Closures: Thursday, November 27 & Friday, November 28
- Green Can Pickup:
- Monday & Thursday routes: Serviced Monday, November 24 only
- Tuesday & Friday routes: Serviced Tuesday, November 25 only
- Curbside Service: Not scheduled
Christmas Week
- Holiday Closures: Thursday, December 25 & Friday, December 26
- Green Can Pickup:
- Monday & Thursday routes: Serviced Monday, December 22 only
- Tuesday & Friday routes: Serviced Tuesday, December 23 only
- Curbside Service: Not scheduled
