Montgomery, AL – On Friday, October 3, the Huntingdon College family joined members of our Cloverdale neighborhood and leaders from across the City of Montgomery, the State of Alabama, and the higher education community to celebrate the investiture of the 15th President of Huntingdon College Dr. Anthony Leigh.

A presidential investiture is one of the great traditions of American higher education.  It is an opportunity to honor an institution’s history and celebrate a new chapter of leadership.  These grand occasions provide a new president a time to define his or her priorities and declare a vision for the institution and their service to it.

Dr. Leigh chose "Celebrate Huntingdon" as the theme for his investiture and he invited representatives from six key constituencies to join him in making celebratory remarks.  Speakers included Mr. Drew Harrell '11, the Director of Legislative Affairs in the Office of Alabama Governor Kay Ivey; The Honorable Steven Reed, Mayor of the City of Montgomery; Bishop Jonathan Holston, the Bishop of the Alabama Panhandle Episcopal Area of the United Methodist Church; Dr. Sarah Conrad Sours, Huntingdon's Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Diana Gray '04, the President of the Huntingdon College Alumni Association; and Mr. DeJon Gibby II '26, the President of the Huntingdon College Student Government Association.

Surrounded by his wife, Wendy, and their daughter, Carey Mae, Dr. Leigh was formally installed by The Honorable Leura Garrett Canary '78, the chairman of the Huntingdon College Board of Trustees. She presented Dr. Leigh the Huntingdon College presidential medallion.  As part of the ceremony, Dr. Leigh also received a new academic hood to complete his presidential regalia and it was presented by the three members of the Presidential Investiture Committee - Huntingdon trustees Emilie Reid, Jane Allen '75, and Beverly McKinney '70.

The Vice Chairman of the Huntingdon Board of Trustees Katrina Keefer '95 served as the master of ceremonies.  The Rev. Dr. John Ed Mathison '60 provided an opening invocation, and the Rev. Rhett Butler '13 offered the closing benediction.  The 2025 Miss Huntingdon Linley McNew '28, accompanied by the Huntingdon Wind Ensemble, sang the national anthem and the Huntingdon College alma mater.
