City of Montgomery Launches ''Montgomery Cares: Hope & Healing Drive'' to Support Survivors of Domestic Violence
Montgomery, AL —In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the City of Montgomery Mayor's Office, in partnership with the Office of Violence Prevention (OVP), is launching the Montgomery Cares: Hope & Healing Drive, a citywide donation campaign benefiting survivors of domestic violence and families seeking support services in Montgomery.
The campaign, which runs October 20 through November 11, encourages City employees, residents, businesses, faith-based organizations, and community partners to donate essential personal care and hygiene products that will be used to assemble 200 care bags for two local organizations serving individuals and families impacted by domestic violence.
The City aims to provide:- 100 care bags for Family Sunshine Center
- 100 care bags for One Place Family Justice Center
The campaign's theme, 'Small Items. Big Impact,’ highlights how necessities can make a meaningful difference for individuals facing crises. Donations collected through the drive will support local organizations that provide shelter, advocacy, counseling, legal assistance, and other critical services for survivors of domestic violence.Requested Donation Items
Community members are encouraged to donate new, unopened items, including:
- Feminine hygiene products (pads, tampons, liners)
- Oral hygiene products (toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss)
- First aid kits and supplies (bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers)
- Soap and body wash
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Deodorant
- Lotion and skin care products
- Tissues and wipes
- Hair care items (combs, brushes, hair ties)
- Resource pamphlets and informational materials
