January 8, 2026 – Montgomery, AL – Jackson Thornton, a certified public accounting and consulting firm headquartered in Montgomery, AL, is pleased to announce that Alan Alexander has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of the firm effective January 1, 2026.
Alexander joined the firm in 2018 and is based in the firm’s Montgomery corporate office. In his role as President & CEO, Alexander is responsible for guiding the firm’s strategic direction as well as overall administration and financial management. He also serves as the chairman of the Executive Committee of Jackson Thornton. Alexander assumed the role of President & CEO from John Fendley, who retired in December 2025 after more than 40 years with the firm. Prior to being elected to his new position, Alexander served as the firm’s Chief Operating Officer for seven years.

Alexander serves on the board of directors and the Committee of 100 of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, has been a national board member of the CPA Firm Management Association and served as president of that organization in 2023. He is a graduate of Leadership Montgomery Class XL and is a deacon at First Baptist Church Montgomery. Alexander maintains professional membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants.
He is a graduate of Auburn University and the University of Alabama Birmingham and holds a Master of Accounting with a tax concentration.
