MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) hosted its Manufacturing the Future with Hyundai Awards Night on May 12 at the RSA Activity Center, honoring middle school students who participated in this year’s Future of Mobility program.

The event marked the conclusion of the “Manufacturing the Future with Hyundai” program, a partnership among HMMA, Montgomery Public Schools (MPS), and Ed Farm. Designed as a STEM-focused course, the program introduces students to automotive engineering, design, and advanced manufacturing concepts through hands-on learning and real-world applications.

At Awards Night, the top five teams — representing Brewbaker, Carr, Floyd, Goodwyn, and McKee middle schools — presented their “Car of the Future” concepts to an audience of family members, peers, and community partners. These presentations mirrored the pitches delivered the week prior during the Celebration of Learning: Future of Mobility Showcase, where more than 200 students shared their ideas with a panel of judges, including HMMA engineers.

The event provided an opportunity for students’ support networks to experience firsthand the creativity, technical thinking, and innovation behind each concept before the final results were announced.

Floyd Middle School was named the overall winner following the final round of presentations.

“Awards Night was a powerful reminder that the future of manufacturing isn’t something we’re waiting on—it was seen here in the students' presentations and designs,” said Scott Posey, HMMA public relations manager. “Watching these five teams present innovative mobility solutions and seeing their families there supporting them made it clear: this program isn’t just about competition, it’s about creating future innovators we hope one day will join the Hyundai family and bring these concepts to life.”

Through its support of the Manufacturing the Future with Hyundai program, HMMA continues to invest in STEM education and workforce development, helping prepare the next generation for careers in advanced manufacturing and mobility innovation.
