Founded in 1917, Chris’ Famous Hotdogs has been family owned and operated for more than a century—serving generations of guests from every walk of life. As one of the only hotdog and hamburger restaurants in the region and the oldest family-owned restaurant in Montgomery, Chris’ remains a beloved landmark where everyone is welcome. Young or old, rich or poor, locals and visitors from around the world have dined together harmoniously in this uniquely American institution.

We’ve served customers from every state in the nation and countless countries abroad. Notable guests include Franklin D. Roosevelt—who often requested a box of hotdogs as his train stopped at Montgomery’s Union Station—Harry Truman, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Presidents Bush 41 & 43, Jimmy Stewart, Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, Clark Gable, Tallulah Bankhead, numerous sports legends, and every Alabama governor since 1917.

But Chris’ isn’t just famous for our iconic hotdogs—our homemade hamburgers have earned their own loyal following. Every day, our team hand-patties fresh (never frozen) ground beef and cooks each burger to perfection on our seasoned griddle. Served on a freshly steamed bun and topped with mustard, ketchup, onions, and our signature Chris’ Famous Chili Sauce, our burgers are a true taste of Montgomery tradition.
