Dr. Kimberly P. Johnson is actively involved in training educators, students, and parents in the areas of reading, writing, and leadership. By using progressive and curriculum-based approaches, Kimberly is fully able to engage audiences and motivate learners through BEST research practices. Through the use of creative strategies and the arts, the goal is to promote literacy and reinforce deeper education through community impact and involvement.
Dr. Johnson’s extensive education includes a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University, post-doctorate degree in Advanced Educational Leadership from Harvard University, doctorate from Northeastern University, master’s degree from Clemson University, and undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently a professor at Clemson University, Clinton College and a Course Facilitator at Harvard University.
Dr. Johnson has written 22 children’s and educational literacy books. She visits schools throughout the United States speaking to students and adults about diversity, literacy, and writing. Additionally, she conducts staff development workshops on how to motivate children in the classroom and teaches creative writing to elementary and middle school students.
An advocate for literacy, Dr. Johnson has served as a guest reader for many local and national organizations, as well as at many events, including the 2002 Easter Egg Roll at the White House, and a former reader for the Charlotte Hornets’ Read to Achieve all-star reading program.
Dr. Johnson has received numerous accolades for her work in promoting literacy and community advocacy. She was named the Paul Harris Fellow for the Rotary International Organization. She has also received the award of Honorable Kentucky Colonel for the state of Kentucky and Mayor’s Award for Cleveland County NC for her volunteer work in literacy efforts. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
