The City of Montgomery today announced a formal three year agreement has been reached with Rubicon Global (Rubicon) to equip more than 60 City vehicles with its RUBICONSmartCityTM technology to improve performance, reduce maintenance costs and enhance residential and commercial sanitation service.

The City’s new partnership with ParkMobile, the nation’s leading provider of smart parking and mobility solutions, will trade the hassle of meters and loose change for the convenience of paying for parking from nearly any mobile device.

The City of Montgomery has earned its place as one of five Smart Cities Readiness Challenge winners thanks to the collaborative efforts of a team comprising the City, County, Montgomery Public Schools, Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce and Alabama Power Company. By winning the Smart Cities Readiness Challenge, Montgomery will receive global recognition, new development opportunities and access to a year-long technology program.
Wednesday, January 16, 2019Montgomery Launches Smart City Living Lab
Today, the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce along with Mayor Todd Strange, County Commission Chairman Elton Dean and Alabama Power’s Southern Division Vice President Leslie Sanders announced the creation of a Smart City Living Lab in downtown Montgomery. It will feature fiber optic infrastructure and an expansion of the Open Data Portal, free public Wi-Fi in downtown areas, conversion of street lights to LED, a public safety initiative and deployment of smart parking solutions.
