Record reinvestment underscores employer confidence and regional competitiveness

Montgomery, Ala. — The Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to share new data confirming that the Montgomery region continues to emerge as one of the Southeast’s most competitive growth markets — driven by record investment, high-impact industries, and national recognition for economic performance.

According to the Alabama Department of Commerce 2025 New & Expanding Industry Announcements Report, the State of Alabama achieved a record-breaking $14.6 billion in new capital investment and 9,388 new jobs across 234 projects, the highest annual total in state history. Within that statewide momentum, Montgomery ranked 3rd in Alabama for total capital investment with $1.2 billion and 4th statewide for job creation with 500 new jobs announced, positioning the region among Alabama’s top economic engines.

In total, Montgomery recorded 21 projects, 500 new jobs, and $1.2 billion in capital investment in 2025. What makes this performance especially powerful is how it was achieved. More than $1.1 billion of Montgomery’s total investment came from existing companies reinvesting and expanding locally — representing over 90% of all capital investment in the region.

That’s not just growth — that’s retention, loyalty, and market trust.

“These numbers reflect more than economic success — they represent long-term confidence in Montgomery,” said Anna Buckalew, President & CEO of the Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce. “When global employers choose to reinvest at this scale, it sends a powerful message about our workforce, infrastructure, and business climate. This is the result of strong partnerships, aligned leadership, and a shared vision for the future of our region.”

    Future-Ready Growth
Montgomery’s momentum is fueled by high-impact industry clusters that continue to scale across the Capital Region, including:
    • Advanced manufacturing
    • Automotive and mobility supply chains
    • Data infrastructure
    • Logistics and distribution
    • Defense and aerospace
    • Food and packaging production

Anchor projects driving this growth include Meta’s $800 million data center expansion, the $94 million Montgomery Inland Port, and multiple automotive supplier expansions supporting Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and the region’s global manufacturing footprint.
    National Recognition

Montgomery’s performance is also gaining recent national attention:
    • Ranked 5th in the nation for employment growth in WalletHub’s Best Cities for Jobs 2026, highlighting strong opportunity in healthcare, manufacturing, and government & defense.
    • Ranked among the Top 10 U.S. regions for project growth along the I-85 corridor by Site Selection Magazine.
    • The Montgomery Regional Chamber has been named one of the Top 20 Economic Development Organizations in the nation twice in the past decade by Site Selection Magazine.

    Regional Impact
For four of the last five years, Montgomery has ranked among the Top 3 counties in Alabama for capital investment, job creation, or both — underscoring a sustained trajectory of growth, resilience, and regional leadership.

“Our Capital Region is working together to grow stronger,” Buckalew added. “This is regionalism in action — and the results speak for themselves.”

The Montgomery region is not just growing — it is building the foundation for what’s next. With bold investment, transformative infrastructure, and a united commitment to progress, the Capital Region is moving forward with purpose.
