Montgomery, Ala. – March 9, 2020 – Site Selection magazine has named Montgomery a Top Metro in the U.S. in its annual ranking of national corporate facility investment projects. Montgomery placed No. 9 in regions with a population of 200,000 to 1 million, ahead of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Greenville, S.C.

“We are so pleased to be recognized by Site Selection for our success in attracting corporate investments to the River Region,” says Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman Arthur Ducote. “We are focused on diversifying Montgomery’s regional economy through recruiting major industries and fueling small and minority business growth, and this recognition affirms we are making great strides in accomplishing these goals.”

“This ranking proves Montgomery is positioned to compete on a national and international level,” says Steven Reed, Montgomery Mayor. “We have a long history of trusted public-private partnerships between the city, county and local business leaders that creates an inviting business ecosystem. We look forward to attracting more corporate investments in the years to come.”

In 2019 Montgomery reported $1,013,568,764 in industrial capital investments, the second largest in Montgomery County’s history, surpassed only by the 2002 original Hyundai announcement. These announced investments by 32 companies will lead to the creation of 1,222 new jobs and have helped secure 7,784 existing local jobs.

“Montgomery has a lot to offer,” says Elton N. Dean Sr, Montgomery County Commission Chairman. “Partnership is key to the recruitment and retention of business in Montgomery, and we have a proven track record of lasting partnerships that expand opportunities in our area.”

Site Selection, published by Conway Inc., is the senior publication in the corporate real estate and economic development fields and is the official publication of the Industrial Asset Management Council.
