Montgomery Chamber Washington Brief Connects Local Business Leaders with U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville
Chamber series brings Alabama’s federal decision-makers directly to Montgomery’s business community

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (October 16, 2025) — A sold-out audience of business, civic, and military leaders gathered as the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce hosted U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville for its Washington Brief series, an ongoing program designed to connect local leaders with members of Alabama’s congressional delegation and provide insight on issues shaping the regional economy.

Known to many as Coach Tuberville, following a 40-year career in college football, the Senator shared updates from Capitol Hill and reflected on his transition from the sidelines to public service. Inspired by his late father, a World War II veteran and recipient of five Bronze Stars, Tuberville spoke about how values of patriotism, discipline, and service continue to guide his work in Washington.

Since his election, Senator Tuberville has focused on supporting the military, law enforcement, veterans, and workforce development, while serving on five Senate committees: the Armed Services Committee, Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, Veterans’ Affairs, Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, and the Special Committee on Aging.

During his remarks, Tuberville discussed federal priorities related to defense readiness, agriculture, education, and workforce development—noting the importance of engaging students as early as the 10th grade in career pathways aligned with Alabama’s growing industries. He also emphasized the significance of supporting regions like Montgomery, which play a vital role in national defense and innovation. “Montgomery is a cornerstone of our nation’s defense,” Tuberville said. “What happens here matters far beyond Alabama.

The Senator also stressed the importance of collaboration and accessibility in leadership. “We may not agree on everything, but we’ve got to keep talking to each other and working together—that’s how we solve problems,” he said. “My job is to listen and to be available. I work for the people of Alabama, and I never forget that.

He recognized veterans in attendance, thanking them for their service, and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that government remains accessible, responsive, and transparent to the people it serves. “We live in the greatest country in the world,” Tuberville added. “The opportunities we have exist because of those who served before us, and it’s our responsibility to make sure the next generation inherits that same strength and freedom.

The Chamber’s Washington Brief series reinforces its mission to keep Montgomery’s business community informed and engaged on key policy issues. These events matter because they give Chamber members and investors direct access to the people making decisions in Washington that affect local businesses, jobs, and economic growth. By hearing firsthand from Alabama’s leaders, members can better understand what’s ahead—whether it’s changes in defense spending, workforce programs, or policies that impact the region’s industries.
