  • Sloss Tech 2025: Fueling Innovation and Forging Connections Across Alabama

    • Share:
Last week, Birmingham played host to Sloss Tech 2025, one of the Southeast’s premier technology conferences. The event brought together a dynamic mix of founders, creatives, developers, and thought leaders for a day filled with bold ideas, breakthrough innovation, and collaborative energy.

As Alabama’s capital and a rising force in the state’s tech economy, TechMGM, an initiative of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, was proud to attend and represent Montgomery’s growing innovation community—ensuring our city was part of the statewide conversation shaping what’s next for Alabama.

    Why Montgomery’s Presence Matters
While Sloss Tech may be hosted in Birmingham, its influence reaches well beyond the city limits. Montgomery’s presence wasn’t just symbolic—it was strategic. As Alabama continues its evolution into a true innovation state, regional collaboration is driving that momentum—and Montgomery is helping lead the way through initiatives like TechMGM, BESPIN, and the broader I-85 Innovation Ecosystem.

This year’s conference placed a clear spotlight on that ecosystem, which connects Montgomery with Auburn, Troy, and other communities along the corridor. The emphasis was on how this region is cultivating the next generation of tech talent through strong public-private partnerships, academic innovation, and increased access to capital.

Montgomery made its mark throughout the conference—from showcasing our growing defense-tech footprint via TechMGM and BESPIN, to highlighting lifestyle assets like Montgomery Whitewater, which joined a panel on talent attraction and the value of quality of life. Local talent also had a voice: FuelAL intern Lewis Bell spoke on a panel featuring emerging leaders, sharing why he’s choosing to launch his career right here in Alabama. Together, these contributions demonstrated why Montgomery is not only keeping pace with the state’s innovation economy—but actively shaping its future.

    A Platform for Bold Ideas
Sloss Tech 2025 brought together some of the most forward-thinking voices in technology—covering everything from AI and cybersecurity to brand building and startup resilience. These thought-provoking sessions didn’t just inspire attendees—they mirrored the kind of innovation Montgomery is actively cultivating. Our tech culture isn't solely focused on emerging tools; it’s grounded in people, access, and long-term impact.

    Regional Momentum, Shared Success
Beyond the keynotes and breakout sessions, Sloss Tech served as a powerful reflection of Alabama’s growing innovation ecosystem. The event underscored that the state’s future depends on regions working together, and Montgomery is increasingly seen as a key contributor—not a spectator.

Whether in conversations around startup funding, capital access, or workforce development, Montgomery’s presence was felt, and its perspective valued. The I-85 corridor—anchored by communities like Montgomery, Auburn, and Troy—emerged as a vital pipeline for tech talent and entrepreneurship. Many of today’s founders, engineers, and young professionals are choosing to build their futures here, drawn by strong support networks, cross-sector collaboration, and a lifestyle that blends opportunity with livability.

    What’s Next for TechMGM?
We return from Sloss Tech energized and inspired—not just by what we heard, but by what we contributed. Events like this remind us that when we show up, speak up, and collaborate across communities, everyone benefits.

In the months ahead, TechMGM will continue investing in programs that develop local talent, support startups, and strengthen Montgomery’s role in the state’s innovation economy. We’ll also build on the relationships and momentum gained at Sloss Tech—because the future of Alabama isn’t being built in one city alone.

It’s being built in partnership—and Montgomery is all in!
