    (Montgomery, Alabama) – Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) blazed into 2020 with a clear plan to guide its operational excellence throughout the next five years. In December 2019, the Montgomery Airport Authority officially adopted a new mission and vision for MGM, establishing seven strategic goals to drive growth.

    “The airport's mission to establish MGM as 'the leading transportation air hub gateway to residents of Alabama’s River Region' and the world is central to everything we do," said Marshall Taggart, Jr. Executive Airport Director. “The mission is the foundation for our strategic goals, and early buy-in from the airport’s board, staff and vendors launched us into this decade ready to move forward—to go above and beyond. We intend to foster an environment and organizational culture that yields unprecedented levels of success.”

    Montgomery Regional Airport’s Strategic Goals are to:
    1. Build a “high performance organization”;
    2. Expand for the future;
    3. Preserve the airport’s financial health;
    4. Strengthen relationships in the community;
    5. Enhance our airport’s sustainability efforts;
    6. Deliver a world-class customer experience; and
    7. Infuse innovation and technology while maintaining efficiency.

    The Montgomery Airport Authority has also proposed five new priorities for MGM’s long-term development strategy. The “economic development goals” address the consistent desires of the airport’s stakeholders and support efforts to recruit new business and industry to the River Region.

    Montgomery Regional Airport’s Economic Development priorities are to:
    1. Rebuild a new Fixed Based Operator (FBO);
    2. Source funding for an additional baggage carousel;
    3. Launch a plan for a consolidated rental car facility;
    4. Develop plans for an airport hotel;
    5. Make surface improvements on select runways and taxiways.
    With a bold vision and ambitious goals to propel the Montgomery Regional Airport into a new dimension, the airport is well positioned to grow and thrive over the next decade. MGM posted
    an impressive finish in 2019, serving more than 386,000 total passengers, the best year on record since 2010. 2019 also marked greater than 14% in growth of total passengers compared to the previous year. The third quarter 2019 recorded the airport’s busiest quarter since 2005 with more than 540 passengers traveling per day, each way. Other notable accomplishments during the year included: the addition of a blended TSA checkpoint lane; expanded same day service to Washington, D.C. and upgrades to the airport’s main taxiway alpha.

    Montgomery Regional Airport currently offers non-stop flights to Atlanta, Georgia (ATL); Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT); Dallas, Texas (DFW); and Washington, D.C. (DCA). MGM serves the region with daily flights by American and Delta. For more information on the airport, visit flymgm.com.
