Every thriving community has a story behind its growth — the businesses choosing to invest, the partnerships driving progress, and the people working every day to create opportunity. During Economic Development Week (May 4-8), the Montgomery Regional Chamber is proud to celebrate the collective efforts that continue to move the Montgomery region forward.
Economic development is more than recruiting companies or announcing new projects. It is about creating an environment where businesses can succeed, families can thrive, and communities can grow stronger together. It is about building long-term momentum that impacts every corner of our region, from workforce development and infrastructure investments to innovation, entrepreneurship, tourism, and quality of life.
Across the Montgomery region, that momentum is visible.
We are seeing national and international companies recognize the capital region as a strategic place to invest. We are strengthening workforce pipelines through partnerships with education, military, and industry leaders. We are supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses that contribute to the unique character and economic vitality of our community. And we are continuing to position Montgomery as a hub for technology, advanced manufacturing, logistics, defense, and innovation.
At the center of this work is collaboration.
Economic development does not happen in isolation. It requires partnerships between public and private sectors, educational institutions, elected officials, community organizations and business leaders who all share a common vision for the future of our region. The Montgomery Regional Chamber is proud to serve as a connector and catalyst in that work, bringing people together, creating opportunities, and helping drive strategic growth.
Over the past year, the region has continued to make meaningful progress through business recruitment and expansion efforts, workforce initiatives, placemaking investments and regional collaboration. These successes are the result of years of relationship building, strategic planning and a shared commitment to ensuring the capital region remains competitive in a rapidly evolving economy.
Our military presence continues to be one of the region’s greatest strengths, with Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base and the defense ecosystem surrounding it playing a major role in shaping the River Region’s future. The growth of the technology sector is creating new opportunities for talent attraction, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Investments in outdoor recreation, entertainment, and quality-of-place assets are also helping position Montgomery as a destination for both visitors and future residents.
Economic development is not only about attracting new investment, but also about supporting the businesses already here.
The Montgomery Regional Chamber remains committed to helping local businesses grow and succeed through advocacy, networking opportunities, workforce support and resources designed to strengthen the business community. Small businesses, minority-owned businesses and entrepreneurs continue to play a critical role in the region’s economic success, and their impact deserves to be celebrated.
As we recognize Economic Development Week, we also recognize the people behind the progress.
The business leaders taking risks and creating jobs. The educators preparing the next generation workforce. The community partners working to improve quality of life. The local officials investing in infrastructure and growth. The entrepreneurs building something from the ground up. And the residents who believe in the future of Montgomery.
Economic development is ultimately about creating opportunities — opportunities for careers, innovation, investment, and community growth. It is about ensuring the next generation has even greater possibilities than the one before.
The Montgomery Regional Chamber is proud of the progress our region continues to make, but we know the work does not stop here. We remain committed to advancing strategic initiatives, growing partnerships, and championing growth that benefits the entire region.
This Economic Development Week, we celebrate not only where Montgomery is today, but where we are headed tomorrow. Together, we are building a stronger, more competitive, and more connected capital region.
