  • Baptist Health Adds Second Drive-Up COVID-19 Testing Clinic

    • Share:

As cases of coronavirus continue to spread across the state, Baptist Health announced another drive-up testing clinic.

On Monday, Baptist Health announced a drive-up coronavirus care clinic in Prattville, located at 350 County Road 4 West. Before going to the testing site, you MUST CALL FIRST.

The Prattville clinic will be staffed with a phone line available 24/7 and clinic hours available 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., seven days a week.

The first drive-up clinic was launched in the Montgomery area. It is located on 2936 Marti Lane and is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Testing is by appointment only. Both clinics are served by the same phone number, 334-747-0150.

Since its launch, Baptist officials say they’ve received about 900 calls a day from the public, 80 drive-up appointments and screenings and about 30 people tested a day.

A number of the tests have not yet come back and Baptist officials expect to see more positives. Right now, it takes about 72 hours to receive test results.

“If you have the symptoms, and you meet the criteria, you will be tested. If you do not have the symptoms, and you do not have the criteria, you will not be tested,” Baptist CEO Russ Tyner said.

Tyner did confirm that Baptist does have a few suspected cases of coronavirus but they are not treating any confirmed cases at this time.

The nation has seen a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical professionals but Tyner said they have what they need and feel confident.

“We have adequate testing supplies and adequate personal protection equipment in our facility for the foreseeable future," Tyner said. "So, we are taking this a week at a time. We are making contingency plans that extend months into the future.”

State officials also opened a toll-free number for people who develop symptoms and need to be tested. For more on how to get tested, you can call 1-888-264-2256. This is not a medical helpline.
