  • In 2005, the manufacturing landscape of Montgomery and the River Region changed forever, when Hyundai Motor Manufacturing America (HMMA) announced it would locate its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Montgomery. It brought with it a network of automotive parts suppliers, providing additional economic investment and employment opportunities for the River Region. In 2015, HMMA celebrated its 10-year anniversary, with a $2.4 billion impact in Montgomery County and a statewide economic impact of $4.82 billion. Today, Montgomery is home to four of the Top 10 global automotive suppliersDenso, Mobis, Faurecia and Lear.

    In 2011, the HMMA engine plant expanded, creating 214 new jobs and $173 million investment. In 2013 Denso, one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers and the first Japanese supplier in Montgomery, announced 41 new jobs and $2.2 million capital investment. In 2015, Hyundai and Kia supplier DAS North America opened its 360,000-square-foot plant – doubling its announced size and increasing its workforce to 440 people.

    In 2016, Montgomery also was selected as the location of the first North American facility for Gerhardi Kuntsto£technik. The German automotive supplier will invest $37.9M and employ 235 workers.
