Education & Workforce Development
Workforce development is one of the Montgomery Chamber's top priorities and a major goal in the Imagine a Greater Montgomery II economic development strategy. The Chamber not only works to bring new industry to the area, it also initiates efforts to build the kind of competitive workforce needed to attract and retain these industries.
The Chamber works closely with local businesses to assess their workforce needs and has partnered with state and local organizations, including postsecondary institutions, to ensure skilled workers are readily available. Most recently, the Chamber was instrumental in creating the Montgomery Regional Workforce Training Center (MRWTC).
MRWTC is a collaborative effort championed by the Chamber. Partners include Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT), Montgomery Public Schools, Auburn Montgomery, the Alabama Department of Education, the Alabama Community College System, the Alabama Technology Network, the City of Montgomery and Montgomery County.
AIDT will conduct highly individualized and customized training at MRWTC. Participants will be able to receive certificate training and graduates will be immediately ready to enter the workforce with specific skills. A seamless workforce development pipeline will fuel the growth of business and industry and provide new opportunities to area residents while making a bottom-line impact on regional companies.
