Jeffries is the author of Bloody Lowndes\, his seminal work on the birth of Black power in Lowndes County\, Alabama.\n\n\n\nThe book for the first time tells the remarkable full story of the Lowndes County freedom struggle and its contribution to the larger civil rights movement. Jeffries continues to push the boundaries of our understanding about our nation's complicated African American history\, through lectures\, teacher workshops\, journalism pieces\, and through the podcast "Teaching Hard History."
