I-65 CORRIDOR DEVELOPMENT TASK FORCE

Co-Chairman: Keith Karst, Alabama Power Company
Co-Chairman: Marvin Goldsby, Alabama Gas Corporation

Mission: Revitalize the I-65 Corridor from Bell Street to Hope Hull and from Norman Bridge Road to West Boulevard, aiding the creation of opportunities for commercial development, housing and gateway improvements.

Objectives

  • Coordinate activities with developers and the City to increased housing opportunities throughout the corridor that would include infield, rehabilitation, and new housing.
  • Improve the I-65 gateway including the Bell Street approach to Maxwell AFB and linkages to downtown by working with the City of Montgomery , Montgomery County and the State Department of Transportation
  • Utilize the Small business Incubator to expand the Chamber's Minority Business Development program.
  • Capitalize on the impact of Hyundai's location along the I-65 Corridor.
  • Improve the quality of the workforce with a focus primarily on the Corridor residence by working closely with local education providers.
