The National Government Committee will serve as a bipartisan advisory committee to the Chamber on critical issues impacting the Montgomery area. The committee's members are appointed by members of the Alabama Congressional Delegation.

Objectives include:

• Conduct visits to Washington, D.C. as needed to communicate current Chamber issues to Alabama delegation members and staff.
• Work with the City of Montgomery to establish federal project requests.
• Establish Surface Transportation Act authorization priorities.
• Enhance relations with U.S. congressional staff representatives at the local, state and federal level.
• Organize visits with the congressional delegation in their home districts.
• Sponsor community orientation visits for congressional administrative and legislative staff.
• Monitor federal issues and recommend policy positions to the Chamber Board of Directors as necessary.
