The Montgomery area business community relies on
The Chamber to monitor and lobby issues that affect
business growth. Through proactive, aggressive governmental
affairs initiatives, The Chamber works to maintain
and promote an environment in the Montgomery area
that is conducive to business and community development.
Key goals for 2003 include the development of a
State Issues Agenda for the 2003 Legislative Session,
and a Federal Issues Agenda for the 107th Congress;
to inform the membership on key policy and legislative
issues; and to communicate regularly with elected
officials regarding the Chamber's activities and
positions.
Legislative Information - The Chamber keeps its
members informed on key issues impacting their business.
Legislative News updates are published throughout
the Legislative Session (regular sessions are convened
once a year) and are faxed and emailed to Chamber
members. And position papers on key issues are adopted
and distributed as approved by the Board of Directors.
If you are a member and need copies of bills or
committee schedules, contact the chamber at macoc@montgomerychamber.com.
Eggs & Issues Breakfasts To keep our
members informed, The Chamber hosts a series of
Eggs & Issues Breakfasts throughout the year.
The Legislative Breakfast features the 12 members
of the Montgomery area legislative delegation, held
during the Regular Legislative Session. These informative
breakfasts are also held with Alabama's two senators
and congressmen. For information or registration,
please visit the Chamber
Calendar.
Issues Forums - Chamber members can also attend
Issues Forum- an informal briefing program held
in the Chamber boardroom. Held quarterly, these
Forums focus on a current issue impacting the local,
state or federal legislative or regulatory climate.
Assisting the Chamber in meeting its goals for
2003 are the State
& Local Government Task Force and the National
Government Committee.
