ONLINE COMMERCE GROUP ADDS FOUR EMPLOYEES, PROMOTES ONE

MONTGOMERY- Online Commerce Group (OCG), LLC, plans to grow to its work force at least 20 percent and has already added four employees this year.

The four newcomers are Lawrence Reker, Sheila Norris, Karen Simmons and Travis Doss while Emily Nelms has been promoted from communications coordinator to director of marketing and communications.

“OCG’s sales growth throughout the past years allows us to expand our e-commerce efforts,” said Scott McGlon, president and co-founder of Online Commerce Group. “The addition of Emily, Travis, Karen, Sheila and Lawrence to our team will further our growth efforts. Each individual’s skills help toward the optimization of our sites, which results in an increase in traffic.”

Reker, a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., has been appointed as software tester. He brings a programming expertise to OCG from his previous positions with the State of Alabama Department of Human Resources. His roles will include testing websites and coding as well as managing content errors.

Norris will work in the firm’s accounting department. She has worked in the accounting field for more than 20 years. Norris, who is from Prattville, will be managing finances for OCG and assisting the human resources department.

Simmons joins Online Commerce Group as a weblab specialist. Her roles will include page management and product entry for OCG’s seven product divisions. Simmons has a background in graphic design and contributed to the marketing efforts of Public Strategy Associates prior to her appointment at OCG. She is a native of Montgomery.

Doss, a native of Montgomery, has been appointed as videographer at OCG. His role includes creating video content for the company and editing, writing and preparing storyboards. Prior to joining OCG, Doss was a director, writer and independent filmmaker. Doss received a bachelor’s degree in theater arts from Alabama State University.

Nelms, who joined the company last November, will be responsible for writing and editing, marketing initiatives, media requests and social media. Nelms is from Birmingham and received a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Her prior experience includes work as communications coordinator at Canterbury United Methodist Church in Birmingham; executive assistant to the senior vice president of political affairs at the Credit Union National Association and administrative and research assistant at the General Commission on Religion and Race.

PRIORITY ONE STAFFING HIRES BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE

MONTGOMERY - Priority One Staffing hired Christopher Thomas as business development executive.

Thomas has 15-plus years of sales and marketing experience and two degrees in marketing. He has consulted with start-ups and small to large companies such as W Hotel, Coke, Lexus, Macy’s, NFL, Rolls Royce and Dermalogica about sales and marketing.

ALABAMA GAS CO. NAMES NEW DIVISION MANAGER FOR MONTGOMERY

MONTGOMERY - Alabama Gas Co. has named Joe Hampton as division manager of Selma and Montgomery.

The company also named Lynn Harris manager of external affairs for Montgomery, Opelika and Selma.

Hampton, who has been division manager of Opelika, will retain those duties in his new position. He has degrees from the University of Alabama, Stillman College and Troy University’s Montgomery campus.

Hampton joined the company in 1998 as a technical services support engineer. He has also held positions with Alagasco as operations supervisor in Montgomery and district manager in Phenix City.

Hampton replaces Richard Ray, who is retiring after 23 years with Alagasco.

Harris formerly worked as Montgomery superintendent of service.

Alagasco, a subsidiary of Birmingham-based Energen Corp., is the largest distributor of natural gas in Alabama with more than 440,000 customers.

Baker Davis

KREBS ARCHITECTURE & ENGINEERING PROMOTES TWO TO PROJECT ENGINEER

MONTGOMERY – Krebs Architecture & Engineering has promoted both Caleb Leach and Baker Davis to project engineer.

The two successfully completed the written examination administered by the Alabama State Board of Licensure and are qualified for the practice of professional engineering. Their new responsibilities include the study, permitting, planning, design and construction management for commercial, municipal and residential development projects; and water and sewer utility projects.

Leach, who has been with the firm since 2008, is a 2006 University of Alabama graduate with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

Davis has been an engineer with the firm since graduating from Auburn University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

Krebs Architecture & Engineering has offices in Montgomery, Birmingham and Orange Beach.
